Hydrogen project funded by the German Federal Government

On May 28, 2021, the German government presented a shortlist of 62 projects that will benefit from public funding of €8 billion under the important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) on hydrogen, representing an investment of up to €33 billion. The aim is to make Germany the world leader in hydrogen technologies, to participate in the emergence of a European ecosystem and to avoid several million tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Among the funded projects is #HySCALE100, led by Hynamics and its partners Holcim Germany and Raffinerie Heide GmbH. This project is about the large-scale production of hydrogen and e-methanol to decarbonise two important industries in the Heide region: petrochemicals and cement. It is the latest of three large-scale projects led by Hynamics, together with Westküste100 and HyNoVi, with the aim of drastically reducing carbon emissions on a European scale.

The next steps are a thorough review of the project and submission to the European Commission.
